Adai Dosa

Adai dosa is different, but easy and it takes fewer time than dosa. It is one of the most nutritious dosa. A filling delicacy, adai is prepared using a mix of lentils and rice. Adai goes best with aviyal or coconut chutney.

Dosa Cooking time: 2 Hours

Ingredients 

  1. Idly Rice – 1 Cup
  2. Chana Dal – 3/4 Cup
  3. Toor Dal – 1/2 Cup
  4. Red Chili Powder – 3 tbsp
  5. Fennel Seed Powder – 2 tsp
  6. Turmeric Powder – (a pinch)
  7. Salt – 1 tbsp (as needed)
  8. Finely Chopped Onion – 1/2 cup

Sauté

  1. Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
  2. Urad Dal – 1 tsp
  3. Curry Leaves – 1 sprig

Preparation Method

  1. Wash and soak rice and dal together for an hour.
  2. In a wet grinder, coarsely grind rice, dal, chili powder, fennel seed powder, and salt as needed.
  3. Transfer the batter into a bowl.
  4. In a pan add oil sauté mustard seeds, Urad Dal, curry leaves, and add the finely chopped onion. Cook this for 2 minutes.
  5. Pour the sautéd ingredients into the batter and mix it well.
  6. Heat a dosa pan, slowly pour the batter and shape it into a circle.
  7. Pour oil on top of it. Cook the adai dosa until it turns golden brown. Make sure to flip both sides of the adai dosa.
  8. Serve it hot with aviyal.
