Adai dosa is different, but easy and it takes fewer time than dosa. It is one of the most nutritious dosa. A filling delicacy, adai is prepared using a mix of lentils and rice. Adai goes best with aviyal or coconut chutney.
Dosa Cooking time: 2 Hours
Ingredients
- Idly Rice – 1 Cup
- Chana Dal – 3/4 Cup
- Toor Dal – 1/2 Cup
- Red Chili Powder – 3 tbsp
- Fennel Seed Powder – 2 tsp
- Turmeric Powder – (a pinch)
- Salt – 1 tbsp (as needed)
- Finely Chopped Onion – 1/2 cup
Sauté
- Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
- Urad Dal – 1 tsp
- Curry Leaves – 1 sprig
Preparation Method
- Wash and soak rice and dal together for an hour.
- In a wet grinder, coarsely grind rice, dal, chili powder, fennel seed powder, and salt as needed.
- Transfer the batter into a bowl.
- In a pan add oil sauté mustard seeds, Urad Dal, curry leaves, and add the finely chopped onion. Cook this for 2 minutes.
- Pour the sautéd ingredients into the batter and mix it well.
- Heat a dosa pan, slowly pour the batter and shape it into a circle.
- Pour oil on top of it. Cook the adai dosa until it turns golden brown. Make sure to flip both sides of the adai dosa.
- Serve it hot with aviyal.
