Potatoes fry/varuval

Potatoes are a versatile root vegetable and a staple food in many houses. It can be served as a side dish with Sambar rice, Rasam, curd rice and with most of the South Indian variety rices.

Total Preparation time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

  1. Potatoes – 4 medium size
  2. Red Chili powder – 1and1/2 teaspoon
  3. Fennel seeds powder – 1teaspoon
  4. Oil – 2-3 tablespoon(as needed)
  5. Salt – 1 teaspoon(as needed)

Saute

  1. Mustard – 1teaspoon
  2. Urad dal – 1teaspoon
  3. Curry leaves – 1sprig

Preparation method

  1. Wash and Peel potatoes skin with the peeler and chop them into small cubes.
  2. Medium heat an iron pan. Pour oil sauté mustard, urad dal after it splutters add curry leaves.
  3. Then add potatoes, red chili powder, fennel seed powder, and salt as needed.
  4. Fry it until it turns golden brown it takes 8-10 minutes.
