Javvarisi Payasam / Sago Payasam

Sago is a rich source of vitamin, calcium, magnesium, and iron. Sago payasam is an amazing Indian dessert. Which is made with whole milk and sugar.

Total Preparation time: 20 minutes

Ingredients 

  1. Sago – 1/2 Cup
  2. Whole Milk – 1 1/2 Cup
  3. Water – 1 Cup
  4. Sugar – 1/2 Cup
  5. Cashew nut – 10
  6. Saffron – Few Strands
  7. Ghee – 1 tsp

Prepartion Method

  1. In a non stick pan, roast the sago for 2 minutes in a low flame.
  2. Keep it aside in a separate bowl.
  3. In a heavy bottom pan, add water to boil. Add sago, let it cook for 7 minutes in a low flame. Sago must be soft once it is cooked.
  4. Boil the whole milk, add the boil milk and sugar into the pan and cook it for 2 minutes.
  5. Roast the cashew nut with ghee
  6. Serve it hot and garnish it with roasted cashew nuts and saffron strands.
