Moong Dal Sambar

Moong dal contains protein and rice provides a high level of nutrition to the body. when we combine these two will give a lot of health benefits. It can be served with dosa, idli and rice.

Total Preparation time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

  1. Moong dal – 1 cup
  2. Turmeric – 1 teaspoon
  3. Red Chili powder-1 and 1/2 teaspoon
  4. Jeera powder – 1 teaspoon
  5. Onion – 1 medium size
  6. Tomato – 1 medium size
  7. Green chili – 2
  8. Salt – 1 teaspoon (as needed)

Sauté

  1. Mustard – 1 Teaspoon
  2. Urad dal – 1Teaspoon
  3. Curry leaves – 1 spri

Preparation method

  1. Wash and drain the moong dal, keep it in a separate bowl.
  2. Keep pressure cooker in the medium heat. Pour oil into the cooker, fry mustard, urad dal, and curry leaves. After it splutters add washed ,finely chopped green chili, and onion. When the onion is cooked add tomato.
  3. Then add turmeric powder, jeera powder, red chili powder and salt as needed.
  4. Close the pressure cooker and wait for 3 whistles.
  5. pour it in a bowl and garnish it with coriander & carrots.
