Parrupu Thuvayal

Toor dal contains a good amount of fiber and also rich in folic acid. It can be served as a side to any south Indian variety rice.

Total Preparation time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  1. Toor dal – 1/2 cup
  2. Shredded Coconut – 1tablespoon
  3. Garlic – 2
  4. Whole red chili – 4
  5. Salt – 1 teaspoon (as needed)

Preparation method

  1. Take a pan. Pour oil, Roast toor dal till it turns to golden brown which gives a nice aroma to thuvayal. Don’t burn the toor dal while roasting it will ruin the taste. Then add garlic, red chili, salt, and shredded coconut.
  2. Once it is cool down, grind it in a mixie with a small amount of water.
  3. Serve it as a side with any south Indian variety rice.
