Toor dal contains a good amount of fiber and also rich in folic acid. It can be served as a side to any south Indian variety rice.

Ingredients
- Toor dal – 1/2 cup
- Shredded Coconut – 1tablespoon
- Garlic – 2
- Whole red chili – 4
- Salt – 1 teaspoon (as needed)
Preparation method
- Take a pan. Pour oil, Roast toor dal till it turns to golden brown which gives a nice aroma to thuvayal. Don’t burn the toor dal while roasting it will ruin the taste. Then add garlic, red chili, salt, and shredded coconut.
- Once it is cool down, grind it in a mixie with a small amount of water.
- Serve it as a side with any south Indian variety rice.
