Poori

Poori is a traditional breakfast dish and it is a deep-fried bread. Whole wheat flour gives a traditional taste to poori/chapathi. Poori goes well with potato curry and other curries. It can be served as a breakfast or as a snack or light meal.

Total Preparation time: 1 hour

IngredientsĀ 

  1. wheat flour – 2 cups
  2. water -3/4 cup(as needed)
  3. Salt – 1 teaspoon (as needed)
  4. Oil – 2 teaspoon(as needed)

Prepartion Method

  1. In a large bowl, take wheat flour and add salt. Mix it with theĀ hand.
  2. Add water little by little and mix the dough.
  3. Water has to be at room temperature.
  4. Once the dough starts to come to a shape, do not add more water. Then the dough will be sticky add a tablespoon of wheat flour to it make it as desired.
  5. Knead the dough well for 3-4 times and add a teaspoon of oil to it.
  6. Rest it for 20-30 minutes cover it with a damp cloth.
  7. Take the poori press and grease chapathi press inside with 1 or 2 drop oil on both sides.
  8. Make a small ball out of poori dough and keep it inside the press and press it gently.
  9. It will be in round shape
  10. Medium heat a pan/Kadai, gently place the pressed poori into the pan.
  11. Turn it on both sides it will be fluffy.
  12. Serve it hot with channa curry.
