Ridge Gourd Chutney/ Peerkangai Chutney

Ridge gourd is extremely rich in dietary fiber and enriched with all the vital elements that include Vitamin-C, zinc, iron, magnesium, and other minerals.

Total Preparation time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  1. Ridge Gourd – 2 medium size
  2. Onion – 1 medium size
  3. Tomato – 1 large size
  4. Chana Dal – 2 tbsp
  5. Whole Red Chili – 10
  6. Salt – 1 tsp (as needed)

Sauté

  1. Mustard Seeds- 1/2 teaspoon
  2. Urad Dal – 1/2 teaspoon
  3. curry leaves – few

Preparation method

  1. Pour oil into the pan. Add chana dal, whole red chili, and salt into the pan. Add onions and sautè it well.
  2. Add the tomato and cook it well until mushy. Now add the ridge gourds into your pan. Cook it well until it becomes soft.
  3. Put that in the blender and blend it well. Transfer it to a bowl.
  4. In a separate pan, add oil, and sautè the mustard seeds, urad dal, and curry leaves. Now pour this on the chutney.
  5. Serve it hot.
