Spinach/ Keerai Poriyal

Spinach is a leafy green vegetable. It is considered very healthy, as its loaded with nutrients and antioxidants. It can be served as a lunch side.

Total preparation time:20 minutes

Ingredients

  1. Spinach – 1 large bunch
  2. Onion – 1 medium size
  3. Shredded coconut – 2 teaspoon.
  4. Oil – 1 teaspoon(as needed)
  5. Salt -1 teaspoon( as needed )

Sauté

  1. Mustard – 1teaspoon
  2. Urad dal – 1teaspoon
  3. Whole red chili – 3

Preparation method

  1. Wash and drain spinach, onion & and chop it finely.
  2. Medium heat a pan. Pour oil saute mustard, urad dal after it splutters add whole red chili, add onion fry it for 2 minutes and add salt.
  3. Then add finely chopped spinach cook it in low flame and it leaves the water so don’t add any water. After water evaporates, the spinach will be cooked.
  4. Garnish it with shredded coconut.
