Ven Pongal is one of the most favorite South Indian breakfast. It goes well with Sambar, Coconut Chutney & Medhu Vada. It is prepared during Lunch as well. It is a healthy breakfast for growing kids.

Ingredients
- Raw rice – 1 cup (I used Sona Masoori rice)
- Moong dal – 1/2 cup
- Water – 4 and 1/2 cup
- Ghee – 2 Tablespoon
- Cashew nut – 10
- Jeera – 1 teaspoon
- Pepper – 1 teaspoon
- Curry leaves – few
- Salt – 1 and 1/2 teaspoon (as needed)
Preparation method
- Wash the raw rice and moong dal using water and drain it
- Add 4 and 1/2 cups of water in a pressure cooker.
- When the water starts boiling add rice, moong dal and salt.
- Wait for 4 to 5 whistles in pressure cooker.
- Take a pan, add 2 tablespoon ghee then sauté pepper, jeera.
- After it splutter add curry leaves and cashew nut.
- Mix this with cooked rice & moong dal and your yummy
